This is the chance to experience the real interior of Antarctica in a single day.Watch video
- On the 5.5hrs flight from Cape Town International, you will pass into the Antarctic Circle and into 24hrs of continuous sunshine. The plane we will be using is a Gulfstream G550 jet. As the plane taxis to a standstill, you will be able to count yourself as one of the few who have ever set foot on Antarctica.
As part of White Desert's commitment to preserving Antarctica, all emissions from flights to and from Antarctica, and whilst on the continent are offset by fully accredited carbon-neutral schemes.
- The camp comprises of four wooden chalets that are comfortable and heated throughout. There is a dining room, lounge and bar, along with bedrooms and even a sauna. Each module has its own toilet and there are shower and washing facilities throughout. The Guesthouse forms our base for the day. Upon arrival, our guides will ask you to choose from a number of activities and you will spend most of the morning outdoors, experiencing Antarctica’s incredible views. We then return to the Guesthouse in the afternoon for a sumptuous champagne lunch served by our chef and her team.
- During the 12hrs on the ground in Antarctica, you will be able to choose from a number of activities designed to cater for either the laid back traveller or those looking to test their skills as a polar explorer! There are gentle treks over to the 200ft cliffs on the edge of the oasis, offering amazing views out to the coast. We also visit the nearby ice grottos – natural tunnels winding through the glacier that are as surreal as they are beautiful. Often adelie penguins nest near to the Guesthouse and they can be visited on an hour-long trek. There is even a chance for a sauna at the Russian Science Base! After a morning of activities, one of Cape Town’s premier chefs will serve a magnificent champagne lunch. It’s the perfect way to celebrate being in such an extraordinary place!
