White Desert
Dates & Rates
White Desert will be operating 4 adventures in 2010. The first three last for 10 days and places are strictly limited to twelve clients per adventure. The last is a 2-night experience for those with a very limited amount of time.
The itinerary for the first two adventures is identical, with visits to the Emperor colony and time amongst the unexplored mountains nearer to camp. The 3rd adventure combines all this with an African safari once you return to Cape Town, where you will spend 2 days with the white lions of Sanbona.
We strongly recommend coming to Cape Town 2 days prior to your scheduled departure. The entire trip - door to door from your home, is scheduled to be under 2 weeks, but please remember that all Antarctic travel is governed by weather and available logistics. Changes to the schedule do happen.

What Is Included
- Airport collection in Cape Town and transfer to your hotel.
- Safety briefing and cocktail party in Cape Town.
- Return flight to Antarctica (inc. a 30kg baggage allowance).
- All accommodation, food and drink (including all alcohol) in Antarctica.
- All guiding fees, support of field guides and logistics staff.
- The use of certain items of polar clothing, as denoted on equipment list.
- All logistics and transport within Antarctica including DC3 plane and 4x4s
- Payment by White Desert Ltd of a 'Carbon Tax' for offsetting emissions created by all logistics associated with Antarctic travel. We will also pay to offset your flight to Cape Town International from anywhere in the World.
What Is Not Included
- Commercial flights to and from Cape Town, South Africa
- Accommodation and meals whilst in Cape Town (Please note, these can be organised through our Cape Town office).
- Polar clothing. Please note, most items can be purchased from the White Desert Shop.
- Comprehensive insurance cover. White Desert staff can advise you as to the right kind of cover required.
- Additional expenses incurred in Cape Town due to any delay.
- Additional baggage costs over the agreed amount.
- Cost of the use of a satellite phone whilst in Antarctica.
