Dates & Rates
White Desert will be operating 4 adventures in 2009. Each lasts for 10 days and places are strictly limited to ten clients per adventure. Due to popular demand, the first three adventures will be visiting the Emperor Penguin colony, whilst the final one goes to the unexplored mountains.
The Emperor trip is priced differently to the mountain expedition because of a longer internal flight once in Antarctica. This extra flight time is therefore reflected in the price.
The adventure in Antarctica is scheduled to be 10 days and we recommend coming to Cape Town 2 days prior to departure. The entire trip – door to door from your home, is under 2 weeks, but please remember that all Antarctic travel is governed by weather and changes to the schedule may happen.

What Is Included
- Airport collection in Cape Town and transfer to your hotel.
- Safety briefing and cocktail party in Cape Town.
- Return flight to Antarctica (inc. a 30kg baggage allowance).
- All accommodation, food and drink (including all alcohol) in Antarctica.
- All guiding fees, support of field guides and logistics staff.
- The use of certain items of polar clothing, as denoted on equipment list.
- DC 3 flight to Emperor camp or to Orvin Fella
- Payment by White Desert Ltd of a 'Carbon Tax' for offsetting emissions created by all logistics associated with Antarctic travel. We will also pay to offset your flight to Cape Town International from anywhere in the World.
What Is Not Included
- Commercial flights to and from Cape Town, South Africa
- Accommodation and meals whilst in Cape Town (Please note, these can be organised through our Cape Town office).
- Polar clothing. Please note, all items can be purchased on your behalf by a member of White Desert team.
- Comprehensive insurance cover. White Desert staff can advise you as to the right kind of cover required.
- Additional expenses incurred in Cape Town due to any delay.
- Additional baggage costs over the agreed amount.
- Cost of the use of a satellite phone whilst in Antarctica.
